TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– The Wabash Valley Community Foundation gave out over $150,000 in grants on Wednesday as a part of their annual spring award banquet.
11 nonprofit organizations around the county will benefit from the money. President and CEO of the foundation Beth Tevlin said it was important to support these businesses– as costs have been rising around the country.
“Just as we all see in our personal lives, that the cost of goods and services is going up. They’re doing that same thing for our non-profit community,” she said. “We in Vigo County have such a rich and varied nonprofit community that really controls a lot of the social lives and what you were doing and all the good activities that it’s really important that we invest in our non-profit organizations.”
Here is a completed list of the organizations receiving funds:
- $8,000 to 12 Points Revitalization
- $17,340 to Camp Navigate
- $7,500 to Chances and Services for Youth
- $20,000 to Rose-Hulman’s EMERGE Program
- $20,250 to Sheldon Swope Art Museum
- $10,000 to Terre Haute Symphony Association
- $10,000 to Terre Haute Women’s Club
- $15,000 to the Douglass Project
- $20,000 to Thrive West Central
- $6,000 to Vigo County Education Foundation
- $20,000 to Vigo Superior Court 2
Tevlin said it was important to touch on a wide range of different organizations.
“It’s incredibly important, because the community foundation does not serve just one type of organization, it serves every charitable program or purpose within Vigo, Clay and Sullivan counties,” she said.
The application process for grants this fall will come to a close on May 1, and nonprofits in all three counties interested in applying can do so on the community foundation website.
