TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A donation to a local college is taking nursing students’ training to the next level.
On Monday, ISU announced Union Health has made a $300,000 dollar gift to the university. The funding is supporting the Union Health Nursing Skills Lab on ISU’s campus.
The university says the state-of-the-art facility offers cutting-edge equipment and tools for nurses to get life-like training.
“We work with the simulated people and they have heartbeats, they have rhythms. You can feel blood pressure. They’ve got pulses. They have amazing, different diagnostics tools that you can use on them,” said Corey Christman, nursing student and president of the Student Nursing Association.
“It’s one of those intermediary steps between learning about or reading about nursing, and getting into the field, right in the middle having this life-like practice facility,” Deborah Curtis, ISU president said.
Curtis also said the university is blessed to have this partnership with Union Health.
