VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Clinton man was arrested in St. Bernice after Vermillion County Police received multiple reports of a man that was vandalizing multiple community locations and disrupting traffic came in on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
According to a post from the Vermillion County Indiana Sheriff, the male, later identified as Josiah Teague, 21, of Clinton, was reportedly going door to door in St. Bernice asking for a ride. Later, law enforcement received a report that the door of the St. Bernice Post Office had been broken into.
The post also mentioned that South Vermillion Bus drivers then gave numerous reports that a male matching the description of the previous suspect was allegedly disrupting traffic by “stepping into the roadway and flipping off school buses as they passed.”
Teague was located and arrested following a brief investigation. It was after the arrest that Teague also told officers that he had done damage to the First Baptist Church in St. Bernice. Upon investigation, law enforcement found that the front door of the church was damaged along with several blocks of decorative glass that had been shattered.
Teague was taken into custody at the Vermillion County Jail with a $10,000 bond and has been charged with the following crimes:
- Criminal mischief
- Criminal mischief to a religious building – Level 6 Felony
- Public intoxication
