VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local community has a new tourism director and she’s excited to let the Wabash Valley know all their city has to offer.
Janice Barniak is the new Executive Director of the Vincennes Knox County Visitors and Tourism Bureau.
Barniak explained it’s a great time to be in tourism, especially as people look to travel after the pandemic. She mentioned Vincennes has a lot to explore like the Red Skelton Museum and Indiana Military Museum.
It’s also home to many unique events like the “George Roger’s Clark March, which makes its return on Feb. 25.
“The great thing about having a history-based town is that you just have a lot to offer and people here are so passionate about it, they’re still living this history. They’re still bringing it to life,” Barniak said.
Barniak also noted that Vincennes will see the longest darkness in the state during next year’s.. solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.
The city has already begun working on a variety of festivities to celebrate the upcoming eclipse.
