KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Washington man has been charged after police say he had been driving the wrong way on area highways and had a blood alcohol content of .21%.
According to Indiana State Police, dispatch received the call at approximately 10:18 p.m. Wednesday evening alerting them to a driver headed north in the southbound lanes on US 41 in Knox County. More 911 calls a short time later let them know the driver was now driving east in the westbound lanes of US 50.
Officers arrived in the area of US 50 and Monty Road where they observed the vehicle driving in the wrong direction. Police say the vehicle stopped temporarily, then began to back up before a trooper could approach, reach through the open window, and put the vehicle in park.
The driver, Alexander M. Rosa, 30, of Washington was placed under arrest after failing a field sobriety test. Further investigation revealed the man had a blood alcohol content of .21%. Police say the driver also has never received a valid driver’s license.
Rosa has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a valid driver’s license. Deputies with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office assisted in this arrest.
