TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A year after his death, the community is continuing to honor the life of a fallen THPD officer.
Detective Greg Ferency was killed in the line of duty on July 7, 2021.
A year later, Maggie and Moe’s Coffee on E Poplar Dr. is selling individual bags of its signature medium blend. The name has been temporarily changed to ‘Badge 129’ in honor of Ferency.
On Friday, the store sold out of product.
“I knew because the community is so supportive of things like this it would be received well. But, we had no idea. We bought a limited supply and it sold out this morning,” Owner, Molly Barrett, said.
More coffee will be ordered and ready on July 11.
Part of the proceeds will go to Project Never Broken, a non-profit organization.
Barrett said she was approached by this idea because of Ferency’s love of plain, black coffee.
“Having known them and having known the Ferency family for several years and we’re close with his sister’s family, it just means a lot we can be a part of it. It was just such a sudden and unspeakable loss to our community and their family,” She added.
Anyone can sample the coffee, the shop is selling 16oz and 20oz cups.
