CLINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — First Financial bank made a $1,000 donation Thursday to help a local elementary school’s efforts to purchase a therapy dog.
The donation was made to Central Elementary School in Clinton to help pay for the dog which will be an Australian Labra-doodle.
Central Elementary Principal Ryan Jenkins says the middle school already has a therapy dog and it’s been a good experience. Jenkins says he hopes the addition of the dog would help bring more joy and positivity to the school.
“kids are having a rough time these days with everything going on in the world. And anything that can help brighten their day or change their day around is gonna be a positive thing for them.”
Jenkins also said that the partnerships with First Financial Bank and other community businesses are important to the school.
“When we’re in need, the community comes together. And so, to have such a substantial donation today is just fantastic. It just makes me proud to be here at Central, and proud to have such great business partners here in the community.”
The principal added that he spoke with staff at other area schools in both Vigo and Clay counties who also have therapy dogs in order to find out more about the program and how it has helped their students.
