VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Duke Energy gave out six grants Tuesday.
The funds are designed to help out several emergency management organizations as well as workforce development organizations in and around the valley.
A total of $47,000 was given out to the organizations. Among those receiving funds were the Putnam, Vigo, Owen, and Vermillion county Emergency Management Agencies.
Workforce Development grants went to the Terre Haute area.
Dagny Zupin, the community relations liaison for Duke Energy, says these kinds of programs are essential to the communities they serve.
“Workforce Development is hugely important right now, and we want our communities that we serve to be strong and vibrant,” Zupin said. “Workforce development is one of the things that helps these communities stay strong and vibrant.”
Zupin further added that Duke is thankful for the work these organizations handle.
“We just want to thank the organizations for all the great that they do. It’s easy to write the check, they are the ones who are doing the work every single day, so we’re just proud to be a small part of that support team for them.”
