TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A number of local non-profit organizations are getting a helping hand from the Wabash Valley Community Foundation.
Wednesday the group announced it had awarded over $132,000 in community grants to 10 organizations.
CANDLES Museum – $8,000 to assist in the digitization of Eva Kor Collection
Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America – $10,000 in support of the ScoutReach program.
Lost Creek Township – $20,000 toward the Garden Trail restroom facility.
Mollie Wheat Memorial Clinic – $2,500 to support Women’s Health Day festivities.
Next Step – $15,000 toward Recovery Cafe in Terre Haute.
Providence Health Care – $10,120 for the purchase of a blanket warming machine.
St. Joseph University Parish – $12,500 toward the Utility Assistance Fund.
Team Acorn Triathlon Club – $4,000 to buy a tent to provide shade and house medical supplies.
Terre Haute Children’s Museum – $25,000 toward a multipurpose room renovation
YMCA – $25,000 for purchase of sensory tools and equipment.
“Each of these organizations have submitted a grand proposal under our competitive grant application and it is reviewed by volunteers,” foundation Executive Director Beth Tevlin said. “We look at that in a way that ‘how can we best provide funding within the community to make sure we have a healthy, educated and thriving community?'”
Today’s grants were limited to organizations in Vigo County. Grants for more non-profits in Vigo, Clay, and Sullivan counties will be awarded in the fall.
