VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It’s that time of year again when college students look back on their time in school as they prepare to depart on the next chapter of their lives, it’s graduation season.
Vincennes University will hold its commencement this weekend. The first time VU has celebrated an in-person spring commencement since May of 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This Saturday two commencement ceremonies will take place in the PE complex on campus. The first will begin at 10 a.m. with the second at 2:30 p.m.. Tickets are required for guests.
The 10 a.m. ceremony will recognize graduates of the Business and Public Service, Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Technology programs
The 2:30 p.m. ceremony will recognize graduates of the Early College, Health Sciences, Human Performance, Humanities, Social Science, Performing Arts, and Communications programs.
Also, Citizens Energy Group President and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey A. Harrison and retired Indiana Commissioner of Higher Education Teresa Lubbers will receive honorary doctorates. Harrison will be honored at the 10 a.m. ceremony, while Lubbers will be honored during the 2:30 p.m. ceremony.
Those who cannot attend but wish to view the ceremony can do so live as the event will be streamed on the University’s Youtube page.
Ivy Tech Terre Haute will hold its commencement Thursday, May 5. Indiana State University and Saint Mary of the Woods College will hold their commencements Saturday, May 7. and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will hold their commencement ceremony on May 28.
