TERRE HAUTE, Ind (WTWO/WAWV) — With the help of Toyota of Terre Haute and other area businesses, we are collecting food through May 19. The food will then be placed into backpacks that will be distributed to local children in need at the end of the school year.
It’s an effort to ensure children have food over the summer break and provide them with a new backpack for school.
Education is such an important part for our children. It helps build a stronger community and future and we feel it’s very important for us to be involved. We’ve done it for a lot of years and we plan to continue to keep doing it.

Jaeger says the community has been very supportive of this effort each year.
“The amount of food that gets dropped off, and the amount of food when people are buying their groceries, they add to their collection, has been really huge,” said Jaeger. “I think it’s grown over the years. When we started off, we had like one and a half pickup truck loads, and now we’re up to like three and four pickup truck loads. So it just grows every single year and I think the community support on this has been really great.”
