VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Three more nominees have been revealed in the inaugural class of the Vigo County School Corporation’s Circle of Honor.
The class will be celebrated at an event in April with a total of 18 individuals to be honored.
This week’s three honorees are:
- Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a product of the Vigo County School Corporation and a graduate
of Terre Haute South Vigo High School. She is a Harvard-trained and published
neuroanatomist. She is also the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir, My
Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist’s Personal Journey. - Mr. Carl Riddle served the Vigo County School Corporation in many roles, including as
the first principal of Terre Haute North Vigo High School. The Polaris Award, which is
bestowed annually to three alumni or former staff from THNV, who have brought
distinction to the school through significant personal, professional, and civic
achievements is named in Mr. Riddle’s honor. - Ms. Carolyn Roberts taught at Booker T. Washington School, as well as Crawford,
Fuqua, and Sandison Elementary Schools. Ms. Roberts retired from the Vigo County
School Corporation in 1995 after serving the last seventeen years of her career as the
first African American counselor at Terre Haute North Vigo High School.
The Vigo County School Corporation Circle of Honor is proud to announce its Inaugural Class of 2022, which consists of 18 remarkable individuals who embody the best of Vigo County, reflecting its rich history and commitment to excellence.
