TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Terre Haute Catholic Charities hosted its 12th annual Soup Bowl Benefit at Maryland Community Church on Saturday.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the event was held as a drive-thru event instead of being indoors.
Handcrafted bowls from local artists and coupons for free and reduced soup at 14 different locations in the area were given to those who purchased tickets for the event.
All proceeds will help fund Catholic Charities.
Catholic Charities Assistant Agency Director Jennifer Buell said that it’s a community effort to put on a benefit like this.
“This is a really cool feeling to know that people are so engaged in wanting to end hunger in our community that they keep coming back year after year to help us with this event,” Buell said.
This event was originally scheduled to be held last week but was postponed due to inclement weather.
