MARSHALL, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — The “Great American Relay,” an event honoring the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, arrived in the Wabash Valley Friday evening.
The run started in Boston, Mass. and is traveling through eighteen states, ending in Santa Monica, Cal.
Two men from Marshall, brothers Jeff and Tim Sanders, took part in the event. Jeff is a Marshall Police Officer, and ran from the Indiana state line to Marshall. Tim, who works at WTWO, ran from Marshall to Martinsville.
The money raised goes to charities that help support police officers, firefighters and military members.
The Sanders brothers also ran in New York City on Sept. 12 as part of this event.
