TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Taste Terre Haute, a summer promotion for local restaurants, is set to return to the area July 18-31.
The popular restaurant promotional event was started by a small group of restaurant owners and managers in 2016, taking inspiration from larger city events such as Devour Downtown in Indianapolis, Ind. For the past five years, the promotion has featured specialty menus and deals and discounts at many local restaurants.
“This gives you the opportunity to be a tourist in your own town,” J. Ford’s Black Angus co-owner Kelly Ford said. “It’s an excuse to try out a restaurant you’ve never been to or visit one of your favorite spots. Especially after the last year and a half, all restaurants are grateful for your business.”
Occurring annually for the last two weeks in July, the event attempts to highlight the variety of West Central Indiana restaurants and display their individual menu items. The setup is simple, with local eateries offering a tweak on their typical menu for the two weeks of the event.
“You don’t have to be a foodie to enjoy Taste Terre Haute,” Chamber of Commerce President Kristin Craig said. “You just have to be someone that wants to support the local restaurants and the people of our community. The great food and drinks and excitement is a delicious bonus. After 2020, these restaurants need our support more than ever.”
