WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Multiple local fire departments helped put out a house fire Wednesday on Bennett Lane in West Terre Haute; the home is being considered a “total loss” by the Honey Creek Fire Department.
Both Sugar Creek and Honey Creek fire departments were dispatched around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning to 900 Bennett Lane in response to a house fire with people possibly inside. After arriving within three minutes, the crews searched the area and found no one inside the house, HCFD Battalion Chief John Shackelford said.
Despite efforts from members of six separate fire departments to put out the fire, Shackelford said the home will be considered a “total loss”.
No one was inside of the house when the fire started, but according to Shackelford it has been determined that the fire was started somewhere in the front of the residence. An investigation into the fire’s cause is now underway.
Crews from the Terre Haute, Sugar Creek, Honey Creek, Seelyville, Riley and New Goshen fire departments all assisted. No residents or firefighters were injured during the fire.
