PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Paris man was killed Tuesday following a shooting on West Arthur Street, according to Edgar County Coroner Scott Barrett.
Matthew M. Morgan, 31, was found at the address of several 911 calls came in to dispatch around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday stating a man had been shot following an argument with a neighbor.
Morgan was transported to the Horizon Health emergency room where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy was scheduled to take place Wednesday at Regional Hospital.
Zachary R. Smith, 30, was arrested for first degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon, according to the Paris Police Department. The Edgar County State’s Attorney’s Office will make the final decisions regarding formal charges.
