TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– In collaboration with Mental Health America, the Reform Movement of Terre Haute hosted a community discussion Saturday at Fairbanks Park.
Community members gathered to relax and learn about how to improve their mental health. Social workers, therapists and mental health specialists spoke at the event.
The speakers encouraged the audience to be open about mental health struggles. Those who attended the event participated in mental health exercises including a mindfulness talk and meditation.
“I really felt like there were a lot of topics that related to mental health that people shy away from such as substance abuse issues as well, so we really kind of wanted to make it a broad conversation about some of the tougher issues that we may be facing in our community, Dominique Morefield, a member of the Reform Movement, said.
