SPENCER COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Martin County man and a Daviess County woman were arrested on drug charges Saturday following an investigation in Spencer County.
Indiana State Police and the Spencer County Sheriff’s Department were conducting a criminal interdiction patrol Saturday night when they pulled over a vehicle driven by Dennis D. Sipes II, 39, of Shoals. Authorities had received information that he was a habitual traffic violator with a lifetime license suspension.
During the traffic stop, deputies located methamphetamine on Sipes. Further investigation revealed Sipes may be involved in drug activity at that Baymont Hotel in Dale.
At the Baymont Hotel, authorities located Kaci M. Newport and her juvenile daughter who had been staying with Sipes at the hotel.
Authorities also found that Newport had a bag that contained what is believed to be methamphetamine and marijuana. During further investigation, it was determined that the drugs also belonged to Sipes.
Both Sipes and Newport were arrested and transported to the Spencer County Jail.
Sipes faces multiple drug possession charges as well as charges for being a habitual traffic violator. Newport faces multiple drug possession charges and a charge for neglect of a dependent.
