SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Farmersburg Marshal’s Office reported Tuesday that a chase ensued when a driver headed through Farmersburg northbound on Highway 41 at 90 mph.
At approximately 2 p.m., Marshal Cody Strain saw the vehicle, which declined to stop when he tried to initiate a traffic stop, continuing on the highway at between 70 and 80 mph. The vehicle came to a stop near 41 and Pimento Circle in Vigo County, with Deputy Marshal Cole Pickett, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Copeland and the Indiana State Police assisting in the stop.
When the driver was removed from the vehicle, officers observed paraphernalia in plain view. A search yielded marijuana, paraphernalia and a controlled substance.
The driver, identified as Aaliyah Johnson of Chicago, Ill., was arrested and transported to the Sullivan County Jail without incident. Johnson is preliminarily being charged with resisting law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a legend drug, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, reckless driving, disorderly conduct and failure to identify.
