TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County is making sure foster children find a loving home during National Adoption month.
The kickoff for National Adoption Day which takes place on November 20th, took place at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. National Adoption Day gives children the opportunity to find a permanent home as their lives will be forever changed.
“It’s really important to make sure that the kids are in a permanent home, a healthy home and they’re loved,” stated Circuit Court Judge Sarah Mullican. “It’s one of the best things we do.”
Adoption day is a special timer for parents as well. Parents like Olandriea Owens, who will be adopting a child on National Adoption Day are able to show their children the love and affection they need and want as well as putting them in a safe environment.
“Adoption is very important for me and my family. I am one of the many women who are not able to have children, explained Owens. “I started this journey fostering just to show love back to the community and in this blessing I was able to adopt my child.”
National Adoption Day in Terre haute will take place at the Vigo County courthouse at 9:30a.m. on November 20th.
