VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – On Sunday, a two year old died as a result of drowning in Vermillion County.
According to the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department, around 8:30 P.M. on Sunday, received a call about a juvenile that was non-responsive after being found in a backyard swimming pool.
After an investigation, deputies determined that the juvenile had been out front playing basketball with their family, when the family noticed that the juvenile was missing and began a search.
The mother located the juvenile in the above ground swimming pool and removed her from the water.
The child’s father performed CPR while awaiting for emergency services to arrive.
Officials say upon arrival, CPR and all life saving measures were used but the juvenile did not survive.
Vermillion County Sheriff Mike Phelps says at this time no foul play is suspected.
CPS was called and will also conduct an investigation.
