VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The COVID-19 pandemic has led to record unemployment numbers and people may be concerned about how to land a job during these unprecedented times.
Donna Taylor Bouchie, Director of Career Services at Vincennes University, says people can expect more virtual job interviews through programs like Zoom or Skype.
She says people should dress professionally for a virtual interview just as you would in-person.
Make sure the lighting is good and that there’s not background noise. She also says virtual interviews require a little extra set-up.
“You should take the virtual interview as serious as the face-to-face. You have to do a little bit more preparation on the background. I highly recommend doing a test run making sure your equipment is good,” says Bouchie.
She says there are videos you can practice with online and you can record yourself to review your non-verbal reactions to questions.
