TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Saturday may not have been the most ideal day for a swim, but it didn’t stop supporters of the Special Olympics from taking a ‘plunge’.
Over 200 Indiana State University students and members of the community lined up to jump into a pool on the school’s campus.
WTWO’s Sadie All made the big announcement for participants to jump in.
The Polar Plunge benefits more than 18,000 Special Olympics athletes throughout Indiana and help them to participate in Special Olympic programs for free.
This year, the program had a pretty high goal.
“This year’s good goal is just a little short of $1,000,000 so that they hope they can get close to that go,” said John Lentz with ISU.
The Special Olympics is still taking donations. They can be given at Texas Roadhouse in Terre Haute.
