TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – You can just hundreds of others this weekend in a cold-weather fundraiser for Special Olympics Indiana.
Indiana State University will host the annual Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 22.
More than 18,000 Special Olympics athletes from across Indiana benefit from the fundraiser.
Nearly 200 people are expected to take part and organizers hope you’ll join them.
“This is the single largest fundraiser for Special Olympics across the state. Multiple sites across Indiana during the month of February try to raise $1 million every year,” says John Lentz, ISU’s Director of Campus Recreation. “It’s a lofty goal and they came close last year, and we’re hoping to do it again this year.”
On-site registration takes place at 9 a.m. inside the ISU Rec Center. The plunge takes place outside at 10 a.m. with an indoor “After Splash Bash” following the plunge.
