PREVIOUSLY REPORTED:
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Terre Haute police are asking motorists to avoid the area of 19th and Maple following a trail derailment in the area.
Crews are currently working to clean up the scene were four cars overturned.
The front of the train came to rest just before the intersection of N. 25th Street and Florida Ave.
No injuries were reported.
CSX released the following statement:
Just before 4 p.m. today, a CSX train derailed four loaded grain cars inside Duane Yard in Terre Haute, Ind. There were no injuries and no hazardous materials are involved. CSX is working on a plan to restore normal operations. At this time Maple Ave. is blocked. We apologize for the impact this may be having on the local community. While we don’t yet have a timeline for the completion of the clean-up work, CSX and its contractors will work as safely and as quickly as possible to restore normal operations.
