In the end, it wasn't even a contest. "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX has handily beat all competitors to be named Billboard's official Song of the Summer 2014.
Each year, Billboard tracks the most popular songs, chart-wise, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, to determine what the real Song of the Summer is. Not only did "Fancy" top the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks, it topped the publication's Song of the Summer chart for its entire 14-week run. The last time a song dominated that chart for the entire summer was 2010, when Katy Perry 's "California Gurls" took top honors.
And as if that weren't enough, Iggy is also featured on the #3 Song of the Summer, "Problem," by Ariana Grande . The #2 Song of the Summer is "Rude" by MAGIC! , which topped the Hot 100 for six weeks.
Iggy is only the third artist to rack up two of the top three tracks in the annual Songs of the Summer chart. In 2009, the Black Eyed Peas had "I Gotta Feeling" and "Boom Boom Pow," while in 2004, Usher scored with "Confessions Part II" and "Burn."
