A VigoCounty woman was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital after being injured in a dispute.
The Vigo County Sheriffs Department was called out around 4:40 Friday afternoon to the 4600 block of South State Road 63 on a family-neighbor dispute which resulted in a 59 year old female being airlifted to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.
The investigation revealed that the injured female and a 91 year old male are related, and have been involved in a longtime property dispute.
Witnesses tell police that the female was upset and drove her Jeep through the man's yard causing property damage to the yard.
The male, who was on a zero turning radius mower at the time, confronted the female in the driveway.
A verbal altercation ensued which escalated to the point that the female exited the Jeep and brandished a machete.
As the male quickly turned the riding mower, the mower deck ran over the female's lower leg resulting in a severe injury to her foot.
Neighbors called 911 and administered first aid until emergency responders arrived.
Sheriff's detectives interviewed witnesses and the male; however the female was not immediately available for a statement due to her severe injuries.
Once detectives compile their findings, the case will be turned over to the Vigo County Prosecutors Office to determine if charges will be filed.
