Hoopeston residents will be spending a little more each month after Tuesday’s city council meeting.
In an attempt to keep things out of the red, the council voted to raise fees on water and garbage services.
Prices will go up the most outside the city limits.
Residents there will see a $20 increase per dwelling while city folk will see a $15 increase per month. They also approved to put a 1% sales tax increase on the November ballot.
The generated funds would be used to deal with abandoned properties around town.
