Which Songs Will Be the Biggest Hits of the Summer? Shazam Knows

Which songs will completely dominate the radio this summer?  Shazam, the song-tagging app, thinks it knows.  The company has released its annual predictions for the hit songs of the summer, based on the songs that are the most tagged at the moment by its users.  Some of these songs are already hits, while others are moving up the charts, and still others are just being discovered by Shazam users worldwide.

Lest you think that Shazam-tagging is a non-scientific way of predicting hits, keep in mind that three of the songs it predicted would be big last year were Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," Daft Punk's "Get Lucky," and "Let Her Go," by Passenger .  And in 2012, its predictions included Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" and Maroon 5's "Payphone."

With that in mind, here is Shazam's "Sounds of the Summer" list for 2014:

1)  Ed Sheeran -- "Sing"
2)  Ariana Grande Feat. Iggy Azalea -- "Problem"
3)  Sam Smith -- "Stay With Me"
4)  Luke Bryan -- "Play It Again"
5)  Norwegian act Nico & Vinz -- "Am I Wrong"
6)  Euro-house dance artist Oliver Heldens -- "Gecko"
7)  British electronic group Clean Bandit -- "Rather Be"
8)  Secondcity -- U.K. dance track "I Wanna Feel"
9)  Undergound R&B singer Teeflii Feat. 2 Chainz -- "24 Hours"
10) Rising Aussie band 5 Seconds Of Summer -- "Don’t Stop"

By the way, the most Shazamed songs of 2014 so far are John Legend's "All of Me," Katy Perry's " Dark Horse," Pharrell Williams' "Happy," Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty," and Lorde's "Team."
