Indiana State Police make traffic stop in Sullivan County Monday afternoon and rescue two miniature ponies in the process.
Troopers from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division stopped a truck on US 41 in Sullivan County that was pulling a homemade enclosed trailer.
During the inspection, the trailer was found to contain (2) two miniature horses, one male and one female.
The animals appeared emaciated and in general poor health, in addition to no water, food or sufficient air flow through the trailer.
The Sullivan County Humane Society was called and took the animals to the Sullivan County Animal Hospital for treatment.
The mini-horses remain in the custody of the Sullivan County Humane Society until further notice. The driver, 21 year old Steven Toth Jr. and passenger 43 year old Joel Baldwin were arrested on charges of animal neglect.
Police also issued numerous traffic citations.
The carnival workers were employed by Modern Midways Carnival of Miami, Florida and were en-route from Chadsworth, Georgia to Chicago, Illinois.
