A West Terre Haute bar is facing charges after a drunken driving accident.
Police say that 20 year old Jacob Hubbard of West Terre Haute failed to yield and crashed into a car driven by a mother with her 8 month old child in the vehicle.
Police say that Hubbard had a blood alcohol level of .29% which is more than four times the legal limit.
Police say that their two month investigation shows that Hubbard and 20 year old Kristopher Hedden each had 12 beers when they went to the Highway 40 Sports Bar and Grill in West Terre Haute.
There, the two more beer and shots shots of liquor.
Hubbard displayed his U.S. military ID to the bartender who did not check the age on the back and stated that she knew that the two were already drunk.
Hubbard’s case is set for a jury trial on June 23.
Meanwhile the Highway 40 Sports Bar and Grill and bartender Chelsea B. Carter faces preliminary charges of sale of alcohol to a minor, allowing a minor to loiter and sale of alcohol to an intoxicated person.
Penalties could range from fines up to $5,000, suspension of the alcohol permit for a period of time or revocation of the alcohol permit.
