If you've seen The Avengers, you know that when Dr. Bruce Banner gets angry, he turns into The Hulk. And according to Jason Derulo , when he hits an award show stage, he too, changes into something much more powerful.
Jason is one of the many performers who'll be lighting up the stage this Sunday night at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, which air live from Las Vegas on ABC. While he's appeared at the BBMAs before, this year marks the first time he'll actually be performing, and he says being on stage in front of an audience of music's biggest stars can be a bit unnerving.
"That's like when you're in class and you had to do a paper -- it was much harder to do it because you know all your friends were in the class," Jason laughs to ABC News Radio. "And it just puts a little more pressure on the line!"
But Jason, whose girlfriend Jordin Sparks will be on hand too, hosting the red carpet show, says he's ready to bring it, because televised award shows always seem to bring out the best in him.
"In the back of my head is always those butterflies and me telling myself, 'Oh my God, there's millions and millions of people watching this,' but y'know, it just gives you that extra little something. And I just kinda morph into somebody else when I'm on stage," he explains to ABC News Radio,. "So, you know, you get a Derulo that's, like, times ten! So, you'll definitely get a good show."
In addition to Jason, performers at this Sunday night's Billboard Music Awards include Robin Thicke , Ariana Grande , Iggy Azalea , John Legend , Jason Derulo , Ricky Martin , Pitbull , OneRepublic , Shakira , Jennifer Lopez , Florida Georgia Line , country superstars Carrie Underwood , Miranda Lambert and Luke Bryan , and, via satellite, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus . In Katy's case, she'll perform her latest hit "Birthday" live from Glasgow, Scotland.
Tune in to see it all go down -- and to see if Jason turns green -- Sunday night on ABC, starting at 8 p.m. ET.
