The Vigo County Sheriff is actively investigating an animal neglect case in western Vigo County. According to Sheriff Greg Ewing, deputies responded to 3291 North Howe Place regarding deplorable conditions of animals inside the residence. Deputies on the scene noticed a foul odor coming from the home.
County records show that the home is owned by Mary Ann Moore.
Once inside the home deputies discovered seven dogs and four cats. The dogs were caged with no water or food.
Also found inside the house was a dead decaying dog and cat. The Vigo County Building Inspector and the Vigo County Board of Health were summoned to the scene and the health department tagged the residence as unfit for human habitation.
The Terre Haute Humane Society responded and removed the animals.
