Most folks don’t realize that when they dial 911 from a landline, it’ll cost’em.
One of the ways the service is paid for is by charging these small fees.
Macon County, IL has been operating their 911 service in the red for several years now.
They hope to rectify the situation by increasing connection fee from $0.90 per call to $1.25 (that’s the highest that the state will allow).
The $0.30 extra per call doesn’t sound like a whole lot, but the board is in hopes the change could bring in an extra $15,000.
