Illinois State scored seven runs in the third and four in the fourth, to defeat the host Indiana State Sycamores 11-1 in a Missouri Valley Conference contest Sunday on Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium. The game was called after seven innings due to the MVC 10-run rule.
Indiana State fell to 17-7 on the season and 2-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference as they dropped their second conference series of the season. Illinois State took a 5-2 win in the opening game on Friday with the Sycamore rebounding for a 9-2 win on Saturday. The Sycamores will be back in action on the home field this Wednesday night when they entertain Austin Peay in a mid-week non-conference battle at 6 p.m. (ET).
The Sycamores Softball Team could not overcome a late rally by the Redbirds of Illinois State and fell in the series finale by a final score of 8-7 in Normal, Ill on Sunday. The Sycamores drop the series 2-1 and fall to 17-14 overall and 2-6 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Sycamores will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Bloomington, Ill. for a single game against the Hoosiers of Indiana.
