BP is finding itself in the middle of another oil spill.
This one isn’t nearly as large as the spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
This spill involves 18 barrels of oil from the company’s refinery in Whiting, Indiana.
That is just a few miles from Chicago on Lake Michigan.
Now Illinois’ U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk have sent a letter to BP CEO John Minge saying they want to talk with him about potential public health and environmental threats to surrounding communities.
The EPA says the spill isn’t expected to affect municipal water supplies that draw on the lake.
