A tradition of the Indy ’500′ is the pre-race singing of ‘Back Home Again in Indiana,’ by entertainer Jim Nabors and this year will be the last.
Nabors first sang the song at the race in 1972.
He has only missed that duty twice due to illness in 2007 and 2012.
The 83 year old now lives in Hawaii and cited his health and difficulty in traveling for making this his last year.
The Speedway will not comment until after this years race what they will do after Nabors puts down the mic.
