The case of a Bloomington man convicted of killing a Greene County woman is now before the Indiana Supreme Court.
52 year old Randy Knapp was convicted of killing 28 year old Stacey Lawson of Solsberry in August 2011.
Knapp killed Lawson by repeatedly hitting her in the head with a rock at the Newark Cemetery in Greene County.
Knapp confessed to Lawson’s murder. The jury recommended a sentence of life in prison without parole because he was already on probation for two prior convictions related to meth. Knapp’s attorneys say that instructions given to the jury were incorrect when it came to the sentencing enhancement of life without parole and noted other minor irregularities.
No word on when a ruling will be handed down by the court.
