Some were surprised -- and perhaps disappointed -- to hear that Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have evidently gotten back together in recent weeks.  But according to sources close to Selena, she just can't stay away from the Bieb.

Selena checked into a rehab facility in January to "clear her mind," the source tells People magazine ,  and "she felt very empowered after that. She did well for a few months. But then she hung out with him again."  So what's the attraction?

"He's very charming," an industry insider tells People. "He's very smart, and used to be a very fun and funny kid."  And according to the source, he knows exactly what to do to make Selena fall for him again.

"Whenever they're not talking, he has to do something to get her attention," says the source. "He reaches out, then says he's going to come see her and she's like, 'Okay.' It's a pattern on his part. The sad part is, she always goes back to him."

People reports that the on-off behavior has been going on for some time.  Although they announced their split in November of 2012, they were spotted together soon afterward.  Last July, he showed up uninvited at her birthday party and she left with him.  And in January, we all saw those photos of them riding Segways together, and then posing together on Instagram.

A source tells People that Selena's BFF Taylor Swift has "gotten fed up" with all the drama, adding that the two girls "still talk, but she doesn't want to hear about it anymore."   As for Selena's family, the source says, "They feel like they've done all they could for her, and there's nothing else to do. At this point, she has to figure it out on her own."
