The Illinois man was accused of killing his niece last year has accepted a plea deal.
Justin DeRyke has pleaded guilty to first degree murder for killing 7 year old Willow Long on September 7th last year.
DeRyke will spend the rest of his life behind bars without a chance for parole.
Willow’s body was found wrapped in plastic and duct tape on Sept. 9 in a shallow pond south of Watson, Illinois.
DeRyke had told police earlier that Willow had run out the door of his home and fell into a pile of brush and had become impaled on a stick through her neck.
He told police that he slit her throat to end her suffering.
