The Vigo County Public Library Board moves forward with plans for a new facility in West Terre Haute.
The board has voted to take the initial steps needed to relocate the West Terre Haute branch to a former day care next to the West Vigo Community Center.
The current library is located on National Avenue.
There is no money in the library’s 2014 budget to cover the renovations needed so most work would not be able to happen until 2015.
Total cost of renovations is estimated to be in the $600,000 range.
The current branch in West Terre Haute is just over 1,000 square feet.
The new facility will be over 5,000 square feet.
Some legal paper work still needs to be completed before the project proceeds.
