Pharrell Williams, will.i.am Settling Dispute over "I am OTHER" Phrase

Pharrell Williams and will.i.am have settled their dispute over the "Happy" singer's "I am OTHER" brand, according to The Hollywood Reporter .

To refresh your memory: will.i.am argued last year that Pharrell's brand is too similar to the "I AM" trademark the Black Eyed Peas member owns for commercial purposes. In response, Pharrell filed a lawsuit requesting permission to continue to use the "I am OTHER" phrase.

will.i.am later countersued, claiming Pharrell's brand would confuse consumers. He also stated that Pharrell has a history of copying others' work, citing as one example the alleged similarities between Marvin Gaye 's "Got to Give It Up" and Robin Thicke 's "Blurred Lines," which Pharrell co-wrote and produced.

The Hollywood Reporter says both sides are currently drafting a settlement agreement, the terms of which have not been publicly disclosed.
