The Terre Haute Humane Society and Ivy Tech Community College of Terre Haute are conducting a fundraising campaign to raise money for a new shelter.
The current facility is old, crowded and in need of major repair and expansion.
On Friday morning, a small group of women – representing 100 + Women Who Care – gathered at the shelter to present a gift – $18,000 – for the Ivy Tech Foundation for its efforts to construct a new Humane Society facility in the south-side industrial park.
It is a $2.5-million-project.
Fundraising for the new shelter, which will also provide educational opportunities for veterinary health students, is still in what is known as the “silent phase,” which is why you may not even know it is going on.
