Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a fatal ATV crash that claimed the life of 20 year old Tyler N. Smith, of Montezuma, Indiana. Smith had been traveling south on Apple Road just north of Mecca when he apparently lost control and left the roadway. A resident at 2404 S. Blossom Lane heard the crash and found Smith lying adjacent to the road and called 911. The 911 call was placed at 9:13 p.m. on Friday, June 27th.
Parke County EMS transported Smith to Union Hospital in Clinton, Indiana. He was then taken by Lifeline Helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was pronounced dead at 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, June 28th.
Smith was operating a Honda 3-wheel ATV. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Indiana Conservation Officers are still investigating the cause of the crash.
