Kesha addresses her rehab stint for an eating disorder in the upcoming issue of Teen Vogue magazine.

In the interview, the singer, in her words, lets "the elephant out of the room." She says, "My eating disorder is something I've been struggling with for a while. People will make up stories, but I went to rehab for an eating disorder -- nothing more and nothing less."

The way Kesha describes it, her work on her last album, Warrior , took its toll on her, wearing her spirit down. She continues, "I was fighting like hell to keep my whole irreverent essence and everything raw and visceral that I stand for in it, but in the end I was promoting something that wasn't the animal I wanted it to be. I decided to face my problem head-on."

Kesha, who spent two months in a Chicago-area facility early this year, tells Teen Vogue , "My whole message is to love who you are and accept all your beautiful imperfections. When I felt I was slipping into unloving territory with myself, I knew I had to listen to my own advice and correct it."

During her stint in rehab, Kesha says, she wrote 14 songs using a Casio keyboard.

Kesha currently serves as an expert on the ABC singing competition series Rising Star .  Her conversation with Teen Vogue appears in the August issue, which hits newsstands on July 15.
