A federal judge ruled Wednesday that Indiana's ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional.
With that, marriage licenses are now being issued to same-sex couples across the state and here locally.
Donnica and Nikki Barrett of Terre Haute are one of the first couples to get married in Vigo County
The Indiana Attorney General's Office says it plans to appeal the ruling.
Attorneys for the state had argued that the Legislature has legal authority to determine how marriage is defined within Indiana's borders.
