Good news for workers in Illinois.
The state Department of Employment Security says that the unemployment rate fell to 7.5 percent in May.
That is the lowest it has been since 2008.
It was the third consecutive monthly decrease.
Still even with that good news, Illinois has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country.
The total number of unemployed people in the state fell 4.6 percent in May to 492,400.
That only includes those who are still actively seeking work.
