Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the death of 27 year old John Androusky, of Rockville.
Indiana Conservation Officer divers located Androusky’s body in approximately 8 feet of water in Sugar Creek upstream of the Jackson covered bridge west of Bloomingdale, Indiana.
Police say that Monday Androusky had been hiking with a friend on Sugar Creek Conservation Area when he reportedly swam across Sugar Creek and back.
According to witness statements he was standing near the water’s edge and collapsed into the creek.
A 911 call was placed by Androusky’s hiking companion to the Parke County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 5:28 p.m.
The recovery was made by divers at 6:28 p.m. Monday evening.
Efforts to resuscitate Androusky were unsuccessful.
An autopsy is scheduled on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
The autopsy will be performed by Dr. Roland Kohr.
