Vigo County Sheriff’s Officials have identified the homicide victim located in the Wabash River on June 8th as 50 year old Michael R. Pollack.
Pollack had formerly lived at a men’s shelter on Gilbert Avenue in Terre Haute.
Sheriff’s officials learned that Pollack was discharged from a local hospital on the afternoon June 3rd. He was later seen around 4:45pm leaving the Plasma Center on Walnut Street in Terre Haute.
Later that same evening Pollack was seen on a security video at the Dollar General at 979 Poplar Street. He exited the store and was last seen walking west on Poplar Street around 6:30pm.
Pollack walked with a slight limp, and frequented local soup kitchens and shelters.
He has no family members living in the Wabash Valley which slowed efforts to confirm his identity, and notify next of kin - all living out of state.
Detectives are especially interested in who Pollack may have been in the company of during the first week of June.
Sheriff’s officials are asking for anyone seeing Pollack in recent weeks to contact the Sheriff’s office at 812-462-3226.
